The apartment is on the third floor (about 30 steps up from street level) of a recently renovated three-story townhouse. Take a nice walk and eat at a great restaurant or just check out the local shops.

In addition to two double bedrooms (each with twin beds), the apartment features a large living/dining room (with TV). There’s a small, but complete kitchen, and bathroom with shower stall (no tub). The apartment features a balcony with a fine southern view overlooking a quiet garden and looking out towards the 13,000-foot high Bernese Alps. Entrance to the stairs leading to the apartment is from a narrow side alley off the Kirchgasse, a moderately busy side street in Meiringen’s center.

Surrounding Description

The quiet residential area is only seven minutes easy walking from the busy main street that is lined with restaurants, shops and banks/ATMs. The rail and bus stations are another two minutes away. The cable car station is just a three minute walk from the apartment allowing you access to the Hasliberg mountainside with picturesque alpine villages and wonderful walking/hiking in the midst of spectacular scenery.

Nearby Attractions Description

There are a variety of restaurants, 2 large supermarkets, shops of all kinds, banks and ATMs, a fascinating local folk culture museum and excavations of ruins dating back to the first millennium. It is also the starting point for excursions to the famous Aare Gorge, travel throughout Switzerland, the high Alps of the Bernese Oberland, and the Reichenbach waterfalls. Michael’s Church is one of the most beautiful concert halls in central Europe and venue for an annual music festival in the summer. If that’s not enough, an amazing number of walks, hikes and climbs originate within 30 minutes of the town and range from easy to challenging. Hourly rail service on the famed Brunig Pass line connects it in 35 minutes with the resort town of Interlaken and in 90 minutes with the city of Luzern.
