Nearly  every region on the island has a museum  dedicated to the history of the region. This particular one is dedicated to the ancient  city of Agrigento along with it's surrounding area. Like many other Sicily museums, this one displays antiquities identified in the course of  excavations that occurred during the 20th century. The  highlights of this museum include finds from the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento and nearby cities.
